Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters

Apr 24, 2022

This week I watched an old favorite movie called Ghostbusters. I grew up with this movie and I have always loved it. I have also seen the more recent versions of Ghostbusters which were funny but not nearly as funny as the old school version.

I was a big Saturday Night Live fan back in the old days when it was funny in the 70s and 80s. It is unfortunate that it is no longer funny and just one big political cartoon now. Anyway, back to topic.

Ghostbusters had some great casting which included Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver. Wow, what an amazing cast! Even Rick Moranis was part of the cast coming from his SCTV fame.

There are many today that turn their backs on this movie because they feel that it was sexist. I don’t see that. It is humor, comedy, it’s supposed to make fun of the world. That is fine, to each his or her own. We can all agree to disagree. I just see the movie as being hilarious and entertaining.

For me, Ghostbusters was the very first haunting comedy that I had experienced as a child. It was refreshing and fun. It allowed me to look at ghosts and hauntings through a completely new lens or humor.

I hope that there will be more versions of Ghostbusters in the future as I love them all. I will go to see any and all versions. And there have been versions that kind of sucked but were still entertaining. The original old-school version in my opinion is still the very best!
