Paranormal Activity
This week I watched a movie called Paranormal Activity. Upfront, I want to state that I am not a fan of “found footage” movies. The only one I have ever seen all the way through up until now was Blair Witch Project.
To put it in the simplest of terms, I find it impossible to believe these stories. The idea that someone would continue to film with a camera long after terror strikes is just not believable to me. I personally would drop the camera and prioritize my own safety and the safety of my loved ones.
The movie Paranormal Activity was a tiny bit better in that the footage was from cameras not being operated by a person. So, that helped a bit. I am still not a fan.
I look at these types of movies to be lazy story telling. It is just my opinion and preference based on what I believe and what I enjoy watching. I have started watching many of these types of films over the years and have found it difficult to get into them. Even my wife does not like them. When we are flipping through the channels and come across a movie that has the “found footage” going on, we keep flipping.
I did make it all the way through Paranormal Activity this week. But that was only because it was an assignment that I had to complete for a grade. I am sure there are many people that enjoy these movies, but I do not.
Now, give me a ghost hunters show any day of the week, and I will be happy. Maybe that is because it feels more real to me. Not sure.
